Car Owner

woot woot

-17 °C

well... today i bought my first car!! A 1986 Ford Fairmont with 246,540 miles on it. As co-owner of the car I haven't thought of a name yet but i'll update you on that. Also you can often times upload pictures over here so i will be doing that soon. Tonight is my last night in Sydney. Last night Nick and I went out to the local "bar" seen which is way more like the American "clubs" and it was pretty weird. I got a hard time from the bouncers for wearing Trainers (tennis shoes) he told me that the bar I was about to enter had a dress code that didn't include trainers and only let us in after a bit. Pretty lame if you ask me. All the guys inside had on leather and gator skin shoes which the bouncer not so politely recommended I purchase at an average price of about A$ 200 a pair. Since that is my budget for about 10 days i not so politely told him to F*** off. After all was said and done i prefer the pubs, or maybe even just the beach as a nightlife location.
Nick met some "doctor" in South Africa with a place in Avoca Beach which is about 50 miles north of Sydney where we're planning on crashing for a few days and getting the car ready for the trip. We'll be installing 20 inch plasma screen in the back and probably refitting the interior with leather and oak paneling. Along with the 24 inch rims and 5 sub woofer system its a pretty pimpen overall ride, enough I know to make X-ibit jealous.
Overall plan is get to Cairns which is about as far from Sydney as Maine is from Florida so it'll be a long trip. For the first time in my life i'll be heading North and be getting closer to the equator. Anyways look forward to more picture soon I promise and here is one the the pre-pimped ride. Love everyone and miss you.

Sydneysiders

nick and me in the coastal city paradise

sunny 29 °C

hey everyone,
so its been a good week back in the states and now I'm back at large and in Sydney Australia. Pretty freakin awesome place. My old camp counselor's brother has a sick apartment in the rocks on the 16th floor. Free accommodation in a expensive apartment is pretty cool. The only down side is I have to share it with this smelly long haired American bum whose been sleezin around Indonesia and South Africa for the past 2 months. Other than that its pretty great. We're lookin to buy a car and we found a nice 1986 Toyota Hiasim, a pretty pimp ride if you know what I'm saying. Anyways i think Ill be able to upload pictures over here so look forward to that. Miss everyone.

Back to the Mainland

a bit of some catchin up

-17 °C

sorry its been a while since the last post. The internet gets a bit dodgey out in the islands. Between Orkney and now I spent 2 nights in the outer hebrides Lewis and Harris and 4 nights in Skye. Tarbert the town in Harris was pretty cool but skye is the best. Kyleakin is great little fishing village in the south of skye just across the bridge. 4 nights there and hiking in the red and black cuilins and a bike ride to the coast. After a short bus and ferry trip to Maileg, I took the West HIghland Railway which some might know is the filming place of the Hogwarts Express. The actual train "Hogwarts Express" still runs on the track but costs like 27 pounds to take so I took the regular one. Bu the views are great and that great aqueduct bridge in the movie runs through Glen Fadin and was so cool. I got some great pictures!!!!!!! UNFORTUNATELY i proceeded to delete them, as well as ALL of the rest of the pictures that I have taken thus far on the trip so that was a real highlight of today! I am told that they can be recovered so I bought a new card to continue with. Hopefully it is true. I"m in Fort William now and plan to stay for three days hiking though Glen Coe and Glen Nevis, two of the most beautiful glens in Scotland and then perhaps summiting Bin Nevis the highest peak in the UK. Hope everything is great back home and the such, did you here Steve Erwine died what a shocker. 3rd man in Australia to be killed by a stingray. hundreds by crocks, who woulda thought?

Orkney

rain 13 °C

Sorry I haven"t been updating this more, the internet has been harder to find than I expected and it turns out that I cant really upload any pictures which I figure is the cool part to check out. I"m here on the mainland of the Orkney Island right now in a town called Kirkwall. Its pretty cold and has been rainy but its pretty fun now that I am out of the cities and into the highlands. Saw some cool seals which are called (selkeys) here on the ferry over and the rock formations and cliffs are pretty amazing. Most of the group are ausies but theres a german 3 canadians and a tiawanese making me the only American. Everyone is pretty great but I am the youngest buy at least 5 years which is interesting. Sorry that the pictures haven't worked out, but I am taking lots and will show everyone who wants to see em when I get home. hope everything is great, saw Agissi retire today pretty crazy and emotional. Ill try to write again soon.
